*** Announcements for Sections 2 and 3 (reload to see the updates) ***
- 5/4 Final grade is online now. Have a nice summer.
- 5/3 We have just finished grading the final exam. The scores are
online now. The average over 121 students is about 47 out of 100.
On average,
a student gets 4.7 extra credits, out of 20.
I expect to post the course grades by tonight.
- 5/3 I would like to say that most groups have done excellent to
impressive work for this course project. It has been extremely
difficult to assign scores for the project. But after all, we have to
assign a score to each group. The committee spent at least 10 hours
on heated discussions. The negative comments are there to help you to
better design your project in the future. It does NOT mean that
points are taken off for each negative comment we put there. The
project final scores are final. I will not make any changes. Making
changes will not be fair to everyone in this class.
- 5/3 The project grade was determined by a small committee. We
tried to be as fair as possible. Please understand how difficult it
is to judge group projects when each group is working on a different
problem. Students in the same group usually get the same score. In
rare cases, we judge individual group members differently based on the
work load divisions specified in the project report and other
information. The project is judged not by how many hours of work you
spent, but by the guidelines specified in the final project assignment
sheet.
- 5/3 Most students should now be able to check the project score.
The final exam score and the final grade will be available before
today at midnight.
- 5/3 Most students did very well in PART II. Many students got close to 20, out of 20.
- 5/2 The solution to problem 8 should be D (corrected below). I
have finished grading the multiple-choice problems. The best is 50
out of 60. The name initials of this student: NPL. This student also
obtained the highest extra credits, the highest Midterm II, and next to
the highest Midterm I.
- 5/2 The project grades are finalized. The scores will be posted
today or early tomorrow. Apparently, the multiple-choice problems in
the final exam are challenging. If you didn't feel good, you are not
alone. The best student I have graded so far got 45 out of 60. I
will keep you posted.
The solutions to EXAM-PI is BDCA BABD ABBA.
The solution to EXAM-SIGMA is DCAB BABD ABBA. The solution to the
Extra Credit 1 is 366x100 and 62x62x62x62x62x62. The solution to the
Extra Credit 3 is C. Solutions to other problems will not be released.
- 5/1 If you have the CD-ROM, please return it to me. You can mail it
to me:
Prof. J. Wang, School of IST, Penn State Univ, University
Park, PA 16801.
- 4/29 We are in the process of finalizing the project scores. The
scores will be online on or shortly after Tuesday afternoon. The best
all-around groups are:
Group 219,
Group 307,
Group 305,
Group 220.
Group 219 has the best final report.
